The teams employed by Avalon Enterprise are given the title of Lifestyle Mentor; this is in recognition of the complex role they perform in enabling the Service Users and was a title chosen for them by the Service Users through our Service User Forum.
Avalon Enterprise recognised that a number of employees had little or no formal training appropriate for working in the community, a problem that was accepted on a national level. To manage this all staff are required to undertake an intensive induction course and complete the Care Certificate in their first 3 months. On the conclusion of the program the appointee will meet with their Line Managers to discuss the programs outcomes, and identify a clear development and training programme for each member of staff. Our commitment to the development of staff has led to our staff turnover being far below the national average.
